From a business point of view, MAP's archival capability will lessen the amount of storage required by the company's Microsoft Exchange servers.
MAP's archival process enables the following:
- lightning fast full text search of tens of thousands of emails and attachments
- allows virus scans of email and attachments inside the archive without the need for Exchange- or Outlook-compatible plug-ins
- Incremental backup of your email database
- Enables operating system compression and encryption of email data
- No need for expensive archival software
MAP's seamless interface and open architecture allows the user to use MAP in multiple ways. Whether you archive only viewed email, email from certain contacts or decide to have MAP manage your entire email database, it's up to you! Automatically, manually, locally or on a network - MAP's flexibility puts you in the driver's seat.
"Find any email in a second" - this was our highest priority when developing MAP. However, defining a query must also be fast and simple - this is made possible by using MAP's context-sensitive query tool. Via a single click, one can create a query like "all email to this sender", "all email from this sender" and "all email that matches this subject".
Many other features in MAP are especially helpful for the professional user. Here are the most important:
- Combine many email addresses into a single "contact"
- MAP works with contact names instead of email addresses. This allows the user to search for contacts using real names instead of email addresses
- Email is displayed in harmless and virus-proof text format. HTML viewing of email opens one to the possibility of virus infection. This feature can be turned off by contact name, or on an individual email basis.
- Attachment overview allows the user to quickly and easily administer all attachments in an intuitive and highly functional interface.
- MAP will keep track of "risky" attachments, based on the file's extension. Any "risky" file will require an additional step of inquiry before MAP allows the user to open it.
- MAP allows you to categorize and search your email via user-defined categories. Each email received or sent can be a member of multiple categories.
- Handy and intuitive "standard queries" give the user fast access to email received within the past 2, 7 or 30 days, as well as expiration date and/or email status.
- Increased status flexibility: email is no longer flagged only as "read" or "unread". Mail Archive Pro supports the additional states of "pending", "completed", "wait for reply" and "hold-file". These new states facilitate numerous functions within Mail Archive Pro.
Mail Archive Pro uses the standardized MAPI interface to access your Outlook email. This interface is automatically installed with Microsoft Outlook and Windows. Mail Archive Pro never accesses your Outlook data directly, and uses the COM add-in interface available within Outlook, which was created specifically to allow custom applications to reference Outlook data.
